Somewhere there is a photo of me wearing a dress similar to this one.
My hair looked just like this.
This little print, in fact, could be me.
So when I came across it, I had to buy it.
It is the truest representation of me then-
and now.
The Cookie Monster.
I love cookies.
I love macarons.
Cookies and a big glass of cold milk.
I never really outgrew it.
I hope I never do.
Aren't they beautiful?
You'll notice the chocolate are almost gone.
I ate them first.
Then the vanilla and the pistachio.
I saved the coffee, lemon and raspberry for Magoo.
After I sampled them, of course.
Like a new box of chocolates...I had to sample them all.
Wouldn't you???
I didn't get them in a fancy french bakery...I found them at (gasp)
Costco.
In the frozen dessert section is where you'll find them-
if a Cookie Monster lives inside you, too.
And you can't get to the bakery.
I myself can always get to the bakery.
Any bakery.
But these pretty little things can sit in my freezer for cookie emergencies.
You are aware that there are cookie emergencies?
It was a cookie emergency that had me rummaging in the freezer
and finding these, because who really expects that frozen macarons
from Costco will amount to anything?
They weren't the best I've ever had, but they weren't the worst.
They were light and fluffy with the almost perfect chewy center.
A successful conclusion to the emergency, I'd say.

For Vera...Fanny swinging above the beautiful macarons.
She'd share with Charlie, but alas, she is also a cookie monster.
Sorry, Charlie.
Hoping y'all enjoy your weekend-
Eat more cookies!
Tina, your posts always delight! The little cookie monster is adorable, as I'm sure the photo of you is as well. I'm off to d a few images to my Pinterest board. ;-)
ReplyDeleteAw, Vera is so adorable that I think she can have as many cookies as she likes. :)
ReplyDeleteWhere did you get Vera? She's so cute.
Happy Thoughts of Home. :)
Stacey, you can get Fanny here: http://www.vintagemarketanddesign.com/products/mouse-fanny
ReplyDeleteI took off her dress and made her a new outfit with a scrap of linen, a tiny gold bear and a pin to keep it all on.
They have a lot of the little mice in seasonal outfits. So cute. :)
If you really want Vera, you can find her here: http://rowhomesandcobblestones.blogspot.com/ ;)
Girl, I know all about cookie emergencies! Enjoy your macarons, they look great:@)
ReplyDeleteI like cookies, but I'd rather have pie. Or ice cream. But I can't have any of that now, as per doctors orders, dang it!!
ReplyDeleteIf You Give A Mouse A Cookie......
ReplyDeleteI was just at Costco...now I have to go back? They have these cashew/almond/pumpkin seed clusters that can serve in an emergency as well. I love your sweet little mouse. I think she should come for a visit. You know, like Flat Stanley? She could have her picture taken all over the world. :)

My mom would love that print. By the way, she used to have our hair cut that way also - I still wonder why!!
ReplyDeleteYum Tina I love macaroons too. They are such a light and yummy cookie. Love your sweet little mouse.
ReplyDeleteHave a great week end.
Kris
Oh Tina you made me smile. I know all about cookie emergencies. Thank you so much for linking up to Thoughts of Home on Thursday. You make our gathering a happier place.
ReplyDeleteI am suspicious of Vera as there was not one crumb on her outfit.....which leads me to believe there is really only one cookie monster here!! Speaking of cookies, I have never tried one of those. I wonder if Canadian Costco carries them. I am pretty sure I will find out soon haha. Cheers Tina!
ReplyDeleteMy Dear Sweet Tina,
ReplyDeleteThis is such a dear, dear and pretty post! I love it:) Fanny is precious, and Charlie will be most definitely dropping by even if the cookies are gone! (How could he resist Fanny?)
Sweet, sweet print and I had short hair as a child too.
Wonderful to see you and to have you share this pure joy, goodness and happiness with the TOHOT party too!

From one sweet tooth to another, one must always have an emergency stash that only we know about. I didn't let our girls eat much in the way of candy, but I had my stash for after they went to bed. One night our oldest daughter woke up and sat on my lap while I was trying to hide what I was munching on. She said that she couldn't wait until she was a mom and could eat the "good stuff" when her kids went to bed. hehe Funny thing is that she doesn't care at all for sweets as an adult.
ReplyDeleteI used to tell the girls that I was putting a smile on the chocolate that I sampled out of the box. A bite looks just like a smile, don't you think?
Love your sweet old picture! And that adorable mouse!!! I've got to check out the link you posted above....
Thanks for sharing and have a wonderful week, Tina!
Tina,
ReplyDeletethe picture is adorable! My sister had that haircut too growing up. Vera is adorable, looks like she has the best seat in the house! Alas, macaroons are not my favorite but they sure look pretty! This is something I probably shouldn't admit but my favs are those fat round sugar cookies with the frosting and sprinkles on top that come in different colors from the bakery in our grocery store. Easy to access and there is always and endless supply! If I were to get ambitious and actually bake something, god forbid, they are the chocolate, oatmeal no bake cookies you put in the frig!
We "grownups" do need our stash's to see us through the trials and tribulations of day to day living.
Eat up Tina!
Rebecca
Hi Tina I'm still on my blogging break and supposed to be working on our basement renovation ... Fanny looks precious in her new linen dress you made her and Charlie would fall head over heels in love with her. Thanks for the shout out and I'm sending love from one mouse lover to another. xoxo, Vera
ReplyDeleteTina- your posts always speak to the heart.
ReplyDeleteTrue confession: I am a cookie monster too.
Do you ever wish you could eat all you wanted whenever you wanted?
Then we are kindred spirits!
Thank you for being at TOHOT.
